To the amaZioni
We began our ministry to the amaZioni in South Africa in 2019. Currently we are based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and have started learning the local language “Xhosa”. Most of the AmaZioni in our region speak this language. Ministering in their mother tongue is a key to reaching their hearts.
How will our ministry look like?
In South Africa we work with an organization called Zion Evangelical Ministries in Africa (ZEMA). The organization has a unique connection to the amaZioni because there is a historic link between them. Here’s a short video about ZEMA and their work:
Potential ministries that await us
- Leading and teaching at non-residential Bible Colleges
- Leadership training and discipleship
- Teach courses on Gospel Basics
- Evangelism
- Teaching and preaching at AmaZioni churches
- Women’s’ and Men’s Ministry
- Child and Youth Ministry
The amaZioni mission field
A huge mission field
c. 20 million people must be reached with the gospel!
A huge need
Most of the amaZioni are involved in or influenced by occult practices. Because they have a Christian name, they are easily put into the category of “reached” and therefore this mission field is overlooked. However, the long term missionaries will tell you the AmaZioni are far from reached. That’s why all the ministries above have an evangelistic aspect to them.
A huge potential
ZEMA has many open doors to the amaZioni which other mission organizations and missionaries don’t have. This ministry is absolutely strategic for this season of the church in Southern Africa.
